Caprese Salad

A classic Italian dish that’s fresh, simple, and bursting with flavour. Perfect as a starter, side, or light summer meal. This simple, elegant dish highlights the freshness of its ingredients and pairs perfectly with crusty bread or a crisp glass of white wine.


Ingredients:

  • 3 large ripe tomatoes, sliced

  • 250g fresh mozzarella, sliced

  • A handful of fresh basil leaves

  • 3 tbsp extra-virgin olive oil

  • 1 tbsp balsamic glaze (optional)

  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste


Method:

  1. Assemble the Salad: On a large plate or platter, arrange slices of tomato and mozzarella in an overlapping pattern. Tuck basil leaves between the slices for a pop of color and flavor.

  2. Drizzle: Drizzle the olive oil evenly over the salad. For a tangy twist, add a drizzle of balsamic glaze.

  3. Season: Sprinkle with salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste.

  4. Serve: Serve immediately as a fresh appetizer, side dish, or light meal.


Pro Tip:

For an extra flavour boost, sprinkle with a pinch of dried oregano or a few drops of pesto or to add a little crunch sprinkle with toasted pine nuts.
