Kumara & Pumpkin Mash

A simple, naturally sweet mash that’s perfect for autumn. Blending kumara and pumpkin together creates a colourful, nutrient-packed side dish that's ideal with roasts, grilled meats, or even as a cosy meal on its own!


Ingredients:


  • 2 kumara, peeled and diced

  • 2 cups pumpkin, peeled and diced

  • 1 tbsp butter

  • Salt and pepper to taste


Method:

  1. Boil kumara and pumpkin together until tender (about 15 minutes).

  2. Drain and mash with butter.

  3. Season with salt and pepper.

  4. Serve as a side with roast meat, grilled veggies, or sausages.


Pro Tips:

  • Steam instead of boil for an even sweeter flavour and to retain more nutrients.

  • Mash while hot for the smoothest, creamiest texture.

  • Season simply with salt, pepper, and a little butter – or add a pinch of nutmeg or a dash of cream for a warm autumn twist.

  • Make extra! It freezes beautifully and is perfect to pull out for a quick side.
